Tactical Elicitation for
Australian-based Solicitors and Barristers
Elicitation is an advanced skill set that is used to obtain information from others during a relaxed “casual” conversation while at the same time hiding your real intention with the conversation. It is used to get answers and glean the information you want to know without asking questions. It is an effective interrogation-type technique that relies solely on statements that elicit a response as once questions are asked, shields can go up.
Outcomes

- A variety of elicitation techniques
- How to craft the techniques for effective statements that will elicit narrative responses from your counterpart, helping you keep the conversation flowing effortlessly

- When to pause and when to stop the elicitation altogether to maintain your integrity and safety
- What nonverbal indicators tell you that you are making your counterpart uncomfortable or insecure
- How to pick up subtle signs of stress and nervousness and from there find out whether your counterpart will open up or stop the conversation
- “Go’s” and “No-go’s” in relation to your body language and behaviour
- Easy, fast and effective ways to create chemistry and thus increase your “likability factor

In this course you will learn to read and understand the meaning behind other people’s verbal and non-verbal signals. You will be able to distinguish between true and false emotional states, and you will be able to spot indications of lying and deception and how to respond to it.
Outcomes
On the course you learn, among other things:
- Reading subtle nonverbal signals
- To be able to distinguish between the meaning and the assumptions with verbal communication
- Identify the counterparty’s baseline
